Remembering Entertainment Journalist Sam Rubin


Beloved entertainment journalist Sam Rubin passed away on Friday at the age of 64. The news of his sudden demise shocked the industry, leaving many saddened by the loss of a true icon.

Rubin’s career spanned decades, during which he made a significant impact on the local news industry and the world of entertainment. As a fixture of Los Angeles morning television, his infectious laugh, charm, and caring personality endeared him to all who knew him.

Starting his journey at KTLA in 1991, Rubin quickly became a familiar face on red carpets and interviews with A-listers. From Zendaya to Mariah Carey, Sting to Usher, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Rubin’s list of interviews reads like a who’s who of the entertainment industry.

Beyond his work in Hollywood, Rubin’s influence reached international audiences. He appeared on BBC’s TV and radio segments, as well as Channel 9 in Australia, showcasing his expertise and passion for his craft.

In addition to his on-screen appearances, Rubin was one of the founding members of the Broadcast Film Critics’ Association. He also led his own show, “Hollywood Uncensored with Sam Rubin,” for an impressive 120 episodes.

Throughout his illustrious career, Rubin received numerous accolades, including the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s Impact Award for outstanding integrity in broadcast journalism. He was also honored with a Golden Mic award and a lifetime achievement award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association. The Los Angeles Press Club recognized him as the best entertainment reporter in the city.

Rubin’s legacy extends beyond his professional accomplishments. He cherished his roles as a loving husband to his wife Leslie and a dedicated father to their four children.
