Kind man gives up his seat to 94-year-old stranger, moving her to tears

These days it’s all too easy to fall into the mindset that the world is simply a place where despair and chaos reign supreme.

The mainstream media outlets, of course, perpetuate this by running stories of doom and gloom every day, but it’s important to remember that kindess and compassion remain.

That’s become something of a mantra for us here at Newsner. Our aim has always been to keep readers informed and entertained, but also to bring them stories that will help to lift their spirits and restore a little faith they may have lost in the world.

Which is why when we stumbled across this story, we simply had to share it…

It concerns an experience detailed by a flight attendant named Laura Larsen Failner during a crowded and busy flight.

After the flight, Laura took to social media to tell people her story, and it subsequently gained attention all over the internet.

“I love looking for the good in the world!” Laura began.

“As I flew up to Washington today, I had this cute little 94 year old lady get on my plane. She was frail and had a hard time getting back to her seat. There was a bit of a confusion to where she was supposed to be seated. In first class this wonderful Gentleman saw her plight and flagged me down.

“He said, “can you please get her and put her in my seat and I will take hers.” He walked back with me to get her and take her to first class. She was so touched. The woman gave him a big hug and said “Never in my 94 years has someone done that for me. Thank you young man.” She had tears of gratitude.

“It was amazing how his thoughtful act changed the attitude of everyone on the flight. May we all look for the little things we can do, to help others around us and show Christlike acts of kindness.

“In this crazy world let’s all try to Be the Good.“

Indeed, aiming to be the good we want to see in others is a commendable mission. Needless to say, Laura’s post was well received, getting over 20,000 interactions and over 9,000 shares.

I myself can only imagine what it meant for the 94-year-old woman to be able to experience a first class flight. If that was my grandma, I’d do anything in the world to thank the kind man who made the incredible gesture.
