An exceptionally large sea creature’s carcass has been discovered on a beach in Wales. A visitor was taken aback on Wednesday morning, September 3,when she came across what appeared to be a whale’s corpse washed up on the sands of Cefn Sidan Beach in Pembrey, Carmarthenshire.
The sizable carcass caught the eye of locals and visitors alike as it lay on the tide at the popular beach. Marine experts are expected to examine the creature to determine the cause of its death, or indeed, to determine exactly what it is.
The carcass is around the size of four cars, and it appears to have certain body parts a whale does not. Although it could just be the way it is splayed on the sand, the corpse appears to have a big wing-type thing going.

It is almost light green and yellowy in colour, which again may just be down to the amount of time it has spent rotting on the shoreline.
In past instances around Wales, stranded whales have been found to be undernourished or impacted by pollution such as plastic waste. Cefn Sidan, one of Wales’s longest beaches, is a regular spot for walkers, families, and tourists.
The creature’s appearance has sent shockwaves through the community, but it may also offer scientists crucial insights into the health of marine life in the area, reports Wales Online.

In the comment section, many chimed in with semi-serious suggestions about what the dead creature might be.
Sure that’s my pet dragon idris escaped from our garage in 1974,” wrote someone, who was almost definitely joking.
Another theorised it might be “Nessie on walkabout”, while several agreed that it looked like “the creature from the Never Ending Story”.
“I always wondered what Falkor was up to,” said one person, referencing the dragon-like beast from the 1985 sci-fi classic.
Another person remarked that it’s not the first time a corpse of this nature was seen on land. “Something similar to this was washed up on Porthcawl beach a few summers ago,” wrote someone. “It was there for weeks.”
Another person joked: “Wrexhams latest signing…”
Earlier this week a whale was discovered washed ashore on a Welsh beach. The juvenile long-finned pilot whale was found trapped in the ocean’s swell during low tide at Llangennith Beach in the Gower on Monday, September 1.
The whale was spotted around mid-afternoon and both the Coastguard and Marine Life Rescue were alerted for help. They subsequently determined the whale had been a female and was under 12 months old.
