Before her emotionally moving performance in 2015, Amira had already achieved a remarkable list of accomplishments. At the tender age of 9, she not only participated in but emerged victorious in the 2013 edition of “Holland’s Got Talent,” the Dutch counterpart to the “Got Talent” series in The Netherlands.
Growing up with a Dutch father and a South African mother, Amira was bilingual in Dutch and Afrikaans. Her journey into singing began at the age of 7 when she was inspired by Luciano Pavarotti’s rendition of the aria “Nessun Dorma.” Captivated by the art of singing, she self-taught herself opera arias through YouTube.
Following her success on “Holland’s Got Talent,” Amira embarked on a global performance tour, captivating audiences in various countries, including Las Vegas, South Africa, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Hong Kong, Argentina, Mexico, Iceland, Austria, and Botswana. Her debut album, released in 2014, soared to the top of the charts in the Netherlands. Since then, she has released three more albums and DVDs showcasing her performances. At 18, Amira has chosen to settle in her mother’s homeland of South Africa, where she continues to pursue her passion for singing. To commemorate her 18th birthday, she released a CD of her 18th Birthday Concert, available for purchase.
Meanwhile, Amira’s 2015 performance continues to resonate with fans, as new comments praising her talent are still being posted on the clip.
