Robert Irwin remembers his dad, Steve Irwin, every day. Steve died in 2006 from a stingray sting. Robert, who is now 20 years old, often wishes he could talk to his dad and ask him questions.
He was just 3 years old when his dad passed away, so he doesn’t fully understand what death means. But his mom, Terri, and sister, Bindi, helped him cope with the loss.
Robert cherishes the memories he has of his dad. He remembers simple things like wearing his dad’s shirt and laughing. He also likes looking at old photos and videos.
Recently, on what would have been Steve’s 62nd birthday, Robert shared a special memory. He talked about his dad’s old motorcycle, which he now rides around Australia Zoo. It makes him feel close to his dad and reminds him of the good times they had together.
