Madonna Calls Out Wheelchair-Bound Fan For Sitting Down During Concert: ‘Sorry About That’

Pop icon Madonna found herself at the center of controversy during one of her latest concerts. The 65-year-old singer inadvertently called out a fan for sitting down during her show on Thursday in Inglewood, California, only to realize the individual was in a wheelchair.

The incident unfolded as Madonna noticed someone not standing in the sea of dancing fans. “What are you doing sitting down over there? What are you doing sitting down?” she called out, pointing directly at the fan in question.

The crowd’s reaction turned from excitement to discomfort as it became apparent that the fan was wheelchair-bound.

Realizing her mistake, Madonna quickly attempted to rectify the situation. “Oh, OK. Politically incorrect, sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here,” she said, her tone shifting from accusatory to apologetic. However, the damage was done.

Madonna kicked off her five-night stint at the Kia Forum on Monday, March 4, with her Celebration Tour, highlighting her hits, challenges, and influence. On the first night in L.A., the 65-year-old superstar shared how a severe bacterial infection in June 2023 severely limited her mobility and led to the tour’s postponement.

Clips of the exchange swiftly made their rounds on social media, with many labeling the encounter as a “yikes” moment.
