Sir Tom Jones, 83, issues health update after fans urged him to ‘get checked out’

Sir Tom Jones has addressed worries about his health after fans urged him to get checked out following an appearance on The Voice, in which they spotted a mark on his face

Sir Tom Jones has spoken out after fans raised concerns about his health.

They told the 83-year-old singer to get a check-up when they saw a mark on his face on The Voice. The superstar was spotted looking great at Perth airport. He’s touring in Australia and seemed happy, wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, smiling and waving to his fans.

Sir Tom suggested he was happy and healthy when he took to social media. He put up a backstage photo and said he loves singing for everyone.

He wrote: “We are having a ball on tour so far and you have been bringing the party to our shows! So I would love if you could send in pictures of yourselves at the concerts having fun and I will share them on socials. See you along the road.”

Sir Tom Jones has been chatting about his health after getting a new hip ahead of his world tour. He explained at the ITV Entertainment Autumn Showcase that he’d needed to get it fixed because it was “bone on bone” and it hurt a lot, reports the Mirror.

He said: “I’ve got to have a new hip. I had [my left hip] done five years ago and it worked great, so now [my right hip’s] starting to go wear and tear! So, at the moment, I’m bone on bone!”.

“That’s what the fella [doctor] told me. But I’ve got a tour to do in America first, I can’t go in now. He said: ‘Well, you should! ‘ I said, ‘I can’t, I’ve got a show to do! ‘”.

After his operation, Sir Tom went online to say thank you for all the kind words from his fans. He also said: “Papa has two new hips now! For all those concerned and sent in well wishes, I am pleased to report my recent surgery went very well, I’m following orders and doing my physio, so happy to say I will be back soon! “.

Sir Tom has also been talking about his weight. After Christmas, he said he needed to lose some pounds. He’d explained he was 30lbs too heavy and wants to sort it out.

The singer previously revealed he lost weight after piling on the pounds during lockdown. The Voice UK coach admitted he stopped exercising and indulged in Christmas treats, resulting in him gaining 30lbs.

He told Radio 2: “I was putting too much weight on. I didn’t think I was going to and I left the working out for a bit, thought I’d keep a check on it. Out with the Christmas puddings and cakes, before I knew it I was 230lb (16.4 stone) which was 30lb more than I should be. I couldn’t get into my suits. That’s when I thought: ‘This has got to stop’.”
