\nThe social media has become a scary place, especially for children who fail to distinguish between real videos and those created with the help of artificial intelligence, leading to various extremely dangerous challenges they are willing to try themselves, including the latest one involving a NeeDoh cube.<\/p>\n

A 7-year-old girl suffered severe injuries and fell into a coma after trying to recreate a NeeDoh trend she had seen on YouTube and TikTok.<\/p>\n

Little Scarlett Selby put her NeeDoh, a super stretchy dough filled groovy glob loved by youngsters, into the microwave before freezing it after watching a video of someone doing it.

\nUnfortunately, the toy exploded, \u201ccovering Scarlett\u2019s face and chest with the red-hot goo contents inside the cube,\u201d as per Uniland.
\nScarlett\u2019s father, Josh Shelby, heard his daughter\u2019s frantic screams and rushed to her, trying to take off the substance from her face and clothes.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019d frozen the NeeDoh cube the night before and the next day she showed me it was rock solid and was playing with it,\u201d the devastated dad said.<\/p>\n

She stuck it in the microwave. I was watching her and saw her touch it to check it wasn\u2019t too hot when she pulled it out.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt all happened so quickly. I heard her scream and it was like a blood-curdling scream. It had exploded all over her chest, mouth and chin.\u201d

\nScarlett\u2019s dad rushed her to St Louis Children\u2019s Hospital where doctors put her into an induced coma in hopes of preventing her airways from swelling up and closing.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was still screaming when we got to the hospital and it\u2019s a good 30-minute drive from where we live. It was terrible how scared she was and how much that hurt her,\u201d Scarlett\u2019s mother, Amanda, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was panicked, devastated, terrified and heartbroken.\u201d<\/p>\n

The little girl spent three days in a coma and suffered second and third-degree burns. Today, four months after the devastating incident took place, Scarlett\u2019s parents still wait to learn if their girl would need to undergo a skin grafts surgery.<\/p>\n

So far, her parents have treated Scarlett\u2019s scars with creams and silicon ointments. They say she\u2019s self-conscious of her scars.<\/p>\n

At the same time, they are trying to raise awareness of the dangers of the content found on the social media and the potential dangers of the toy that caused Scarlett the injuries.<\/p>\n

The NeeDoh manufacturer, Schylling Toys, has a warning on its website that reads: \u201cDo NOT heat, freeze, or microwave, may cause personal injury.\u201d<\/p>\n

They partnered with social media sites to make sure any content related to the misuse of their product is removed from the platforms.<\/p>\n
