Lewis Hamilton brilliantly mocked F1 rival Fernando Alonso\u2019s X-rated outburst at the Singapore Grand Prix after he failed to overtake the Brit’s stricken Ferrari, which had a critical brake problem<\/p>\n

\nLewis Hamilton took a hilarious swipe at F1 rival Fernando Alonso after his explicit outburst at the Singapore Grand Prix.<\/p>\n

In the closing laps of the race around the Marina Bay Circuit, Hamilton suffered a major brake failure and saw his once-comfortable gap over Alonso quickly diminish as the Aston Martin veteran chased Hamilton to the line.<\/p>\n

Hamilton\u2019s stricken Ferrari was able to make it across the finish line ahead of Alonso in P7, despite his old Spanish foe carving into a 48-second deficit to be on Hamilton\u2019s gearbox by the final corner.<\/p>\n

The seven-time world champ had been pursuing Mercedes\u2019 Kimi Antonelli for P5 just two laps from the end of the race before he had to manage the critical brake issue.<\/p>\n

\nHamilton was noted for cutting the corner multiple times in the last lap as he desperately attempted to crawl over the line ahead of Alonso, something that the 44-year-old spotted and raged about down the radio at the end of the race.

\nHe fumed: “I cannot f****** believe it. I mean, I cannot f****** believe it. I cannot f****** believe it. Is it safe to drive with no brakes?<\/p>\n

“For me, you cannot drive when the car is unsafe. Sometimes they try to disqualify me with no mirror, and now you have no brakes and everything is fine? I doubt it.”<\/p>\n

Hamilton was ultimately stripped of his P7 finish after he was summoned to the stewards and slapped with a five-second time penalty, promoting Alonso to P7 and relegating the Brit to P8.

\nHamilton poked fun at Alonso by compiling videos of One Foot in the Grave’s Victor Meldrew
\nClearly not overly upset about losing one place in Singapore and two points, Hamilton took a cheeky swipe at his former McLaren team-mate.<\/p>\n

Captioning the video \u201c18 years of\u201d, Hamilton shared a compilation of British comedy One Foot in the Grave, in which the main character Victor Meldrew, played by Richard Wilson, continuously exclaims: \u201cI don\u2019t believe it!\u201d
\nHamilton and Alonso\u2019s rivalry dates back 18 years when the Brit finished second in the 2007 Drivers\u2019 Championship in his rookie season, ahead of back-to-back world champion Alonso on countback.

\nBoth finished level on points after a tension-packed year, one point behind world champion Kimi Raikkonen.
\nTheir fierce rivalry that season came to a head when the Spaniard deliberately delayed Hamilton in the pit lane, costing him a final flying lap during qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, seeing Alonso and the team given penalties.<\/p>\n
