Pilot: \u201cDoes that runway look short to you?\u201d
\nCo-pilot: \u201cYeah\u2026 definitely shorter than expected.\u201d
\nPilot: \u201cI was sure it was supposed to be longer than that.\u201d
\nCo-pilot: \u201cSame here. You sure we\u2019re at the right place?\u201d<\/p>\n
The tension grew as they got closer.<\/p>\n
Pilot: \u201cAlright\u2014full flaps.\u201d
\nCo-pilot: \u201cFull flaps set.\u201d
\nPilot: \u201cBe ready with the thrust reversers the moment we touch down.\u201d
\nCo-pilot: \u201cStanding by.\u201d
\nPilot: \u201cAnd I mean full brakes the second we\u2019re on the ground!\u201d
\nCo-pilot: \u201cCopy that.\u201d<\/p>\n
They came in hot but steady. The wheels touched down hard, brakes locked up, thrust reversers roaring\u2014rubber screeched\u2014and they came to a halt just barely before the end of the runway.<\/p>\n
Pilot: \u201cMan, that was tight. Definitely one of the shortest runways I\u2019ve ever landed on.\u201d
\nCo-pilot: \u201cYeah, no kidding\u2026\u201d pauses
