A woman was gathering firewood along the edge of a river. While cutting a branch from a tree, she dropped her axe into the water, and it sank to the bottom.<\/p>\n
Desperate, she began to pray and plead:
\n\u2013 Lord, help me, please, Lord!<\/p>\n
God appeared and asked her:<\/p>\n
\u2013 What\u2019s wrong, woman? What happened? Why are you crying so bitterly?
\n\u2013 Lord, please help me. My axe fell into the river, and I have nothing to cut wood with \u2014 I\u2019ll freeze to death.<\/p>\n
God put His hand into the river and pulled out a golden axe.
\n\u2013 Is this your axe? He asked.
\nThe noble woman replied:
\n\u2013 No, Lord, that\u2019s not mine.
\n
\nGod reached in again and pulled out a silver axe.
\n\u2013 Is this your axe, woman?
\n\u2013 No, Lord, not that one either.<\/p>\n
God reached in a third time and pulled out an axe made of iron and wood.
\n\u2013 And this one \u2014 is it yours? He asked once more.
\n\u2013 Yesss, Lord, yes!!! That one is mine.<\/p>\n
God was so pleased with the woman\u2019s honesty that He gave her all three axes \u2014 the golden one, the silver one, and her original axe.
\nOverjoyed, the woman ran home to tell her beloved husband about the miracle. She then took him to the spot where she had seen God.<\/p>\n
But in a moment of carelessness, the man tripped and fell into the river. Not knowing how to swim, he drowned.
\nThe woman began to cry again and plead for help.<\/p>\n
God appeared once more.
\n\u2013 What now? What happened? Why are you crying again?
\nThrough her sobs, the woman replied:
\n\u2013 Lord, my husband fell into the river and drowned.<\/p>\n
Immediately, God went into the river and pulled out Brad Pitt.
\n\u2013 Is this your husband? He asked.
\n\u2013 Yes, yes, yes! said the woman.<\/p>\n
God became angry:
\n\u2013 You are a lying woman! He exclaimed.<\/p>\n
Quickly, the woman explained:
\n\u2013 Lord, forgive me, but it\u2019s a misunderstanding\u2026 If I had said NO, you would\u2019ve brought me George Clooney, and if I said he wasn\u2019t my husband either, then finally you\u2019d bring my real husband.
\nAnd when I said, \u201cYES, this is my husband,\u201d You would\u2019ve sent me home with all three of them.
\nBut Lord, I am a humble woman, with moral principles, and I could not commit POLYGAMY!
\nThat\u2019s why I said YES to the first one You showed me.<\/p>\n
God saw the wisdom in her reasoning and forgave her.<\/p>\n
MORAL:
\nWomen have such good arguments that even God believes them.
\nThat\u2019s how they are \u2014 they never lose!
