When I was a teenager, I had to undergo k*ee s*rg*ry.
\nThe doctor handed me a marker and said:<\/p>\n
\u201cCircle the k*ee we\u2019re supposed to op*rat* on, and put an X over the other one.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then he left the room.<\/p>\n
I did exactly what he asked. But then\u2026 I started getting creative.<\/p>\n
I drew arrows pointing to the circled k*ee and wrote: \u201cOp*rat* here.\u201d
\nOn the other knee I added even more X\u2019s and wrote in big letters: \u201cDo NOT touch!\u201d<\/p>\n
Out of boredom, I spent the next half hour doodling on myself and leaving little messages like:
\n\u201cHands off the *pp*ndix,\u201d
\nand
\n\u201cWhat are you staring at? The k*ee is lower.\u201d<\/p>\n
I even asked my mom to write something on my back that said:
\n\u201cIf you can read this, you\u2019re on the wrong side. Turn me over.\u201d<\/p>\n
When the an*sth*siol*gist came in, I quickly pulled the hospital sheet over myself.<\/p>\n
Apparently I was already saying nonsense before the an*sth*sia, but that\u2019s a completely different story.<\/p>\n
The s*rg*ry went well, and I had to stay overnight at the hospital.<\/p>\n
Later the doctor came in and told me how I had completely wr*ck*d their s*rg*cal schedule.<\/p>\n
When the staff uncovered me before the *p*ration and saw all those messages, they were laughing so hard they could barely stand\u2014for a solid ten minutes.<\/p>\n
Eventually, once they managed to calm down, they started moving me onto the *p*rating table\u2026<\/p>\n
And that\u2019s when they noticed the last message.<\/p>\n
As a result, the entire s*rg*ry started about thirty minutes later than planned.<\/p>\n
