When Tomm was born in 1993, it quickly became clear that his condition was something never seen before.

\nAlthough doctors had noticed irregularities during prenatal scans, no one could have predicted the extent of his condition. Faced with uncertainty, his parents were forced to make difficult decisions even before his birth.<\/p>\n

\u201dWe sort of discussed this between us, and we decided what\u2019s meant to be is meant to be and we went through with it,\u201d Tomm\u2019s dad, Geoff Tennent, said.

\nDespite numerous medical checks, nothing prepared them for the reality. When Debbie Tennent first held her son, the moment was overwhelming.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy heart came up to my throat, but at the same time it was lovely to pick him up and cuddle him,\u201d she said.

\nDoctors initially had no explanation for Tomm\u2019s condition. With no diagnosis or treatment available, they could only hope that his body would gradually adapt as he grew.
\n\"\"
\nDetermined to understand the mystery, medical experts launched extensive research. Tomm spent over two months undergoing continuous tests and examinations, becoming the first recorded case of its kind.<\/p>\n

For his family, the process was emotionally exhausting, but they remained committed\u2014knowing their son\u2019s case might help others in the future. At the same time, they worked hard to ensure Tomm would feel no different from other children.
\nEventually, researchers made a surprising discovery. Tomm\u2019s condition bore similarities to the wrinkled skin of Shar Pei puppies. This led to a breakthrough: his body contained hyaluronic acid levels up to 100 times higher than normal.<\/p>\n

In Shar Pei dogs, these levels naturally decrease as they grow, leading to smoother skin. Doctors began to hope the same process would happen with Tomm.<\/p>\n

According to his doctor, Dr. Andrew Ramsden, the condition was likely to improve with age\u2014and thankfully, it did.<\/p>\n

Growing up wasn\u2019t without challenges. When Tomm started school, some children reacted to his appearance, leaving him feeling isolated at times. Still, he remained resilient and gradually built friendships.<\/p>\n

By 2003, when asked about how others perceived him, Tomm showed remarkable confidence.<\/p>\n

Not really (\u2026) because they are my friends and they don\u2019t really care how I look like.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also shared how he saw himself:
\na kind loving person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes they (people) say I look cool, sometimes they say I look really cool, and sometimes they don\u2019t say anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

His parents couldn\u2019t have been prouder.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a good boy\u201d (\u2026) All he has achieved \u2026 he is doing good at school, he is doing good at everything,\u201d his dad said.
\nThey always emphasized that true beauty comes from within\u2014and raised him just like any other child.

\nTomm Tennent today<\/p>\n

Nearly three decades have passed since Tomm\u2019s remarkable birth captured global attention. Over the years, many have wondered how his life turned out.<\/p>\n

While he keeps a relatively low profile today, it appears that Tomm is happily married to his wife, Hannah. The couple is believed to live in Frankston, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia.
\nOne quote he shared online seems to reflect his outlook on life:<\/p>\n
