\nThe Nun and the Secretive Truck Driver
\nA young nun was traveling across the country to visit a new convent. Her bus broke down in the middle of nowhere, and the next bus wasn\u2019t scheduled until the following day. Stranded at a lonely truck stop, she noticed a burly truck driver who was about to hit the road in a massive eighteen-wheeler.
\nShe walked up to him and asked politely, \u201cExcuse me, sir, but are you by any chance heading toward the next city? I am a nun and I desperately need to reach my destination tonight.\u201d
\nThe truck driver, a tough-looking man with a kind heart, nodded. \u201cSure am, Sister. Hop in, but I have to warn you: I have a bit of a habit of talking to myself when I drive, and sometimes my language isn\u2019t exactly church-appropriate.\u201d
\nThe nun smiled, \u201cDon\u2019t worry, my son. I have a \u2018habit\u2019 of my own, and I am a very good listener.\u201d
\nThey drove for about two hours in comfortable silence. Suddenly, a small deer darted out onto the highway directly in front of the truck. The driver slammed on the brakes, swerved hard, and just barely missed the animal.
\nShaken up and frustrated, the driver yelled out a string of terrible curse words, venting his anger at the deer. A second later, he remembered his holy passenger. He turned bright red, looked at the nun, and apologized profusely: \u201cOh, Sister! I am so incredibly sorry! I completely forgot you were here. Please forgive my awful language.\u201d
\nThe nun patted his arm gently and said with a calm, sweet smile, \u201cOh, don\u2019t worry about it, dear. Actually, I learned a lot of new vocabulary just now. But tell me\u2026 what on earth is a \u2018deer\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAfter a family meal one night, three generations of the family are sitting around chatting. Jenny, a four-year-old, is sitting on her grandfather\u2019s knee.<\/p>\n

Jenny: \u201cGrandpa, can you make a noise like a frog?\u201d<\/p>\n

Grandfather: \u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jenny: \u201cCan you make a noise like a frog?\u201d
\nGrandfather: \u201cWhy do you want me to make a noise like a frog?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jenny: \u201cWell, last night Daddy said that when you croak, we can all go to Disneyland.\u201d
\nOn their anniversary night,<\/p>\n

Theodore and his wife, Sophia, sat down in the den with her favourite magazine, turned on the soft reading lamp, slipped off her shoes, patted and propped her feet and announced that he was preparing dinner all by himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow romantic!\u201d Sophia thought.<\/p>\n

Two-and-a-half hours later, Sophia was still waiting for dinner to be served.<\/p>\n

She tiptoed to the kitchen and found it a colossal mess. Theodore, removing something indescribable from the smoking oven, saw her in the doorway.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlmost ready!\u201d he vowed. \u201cSorry it took me so long, I had to refill the pepper shaker.\u201d
\n\u201cWhy, honey, how long could that have taken you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than an hour, I reckon. Wasn`t easy stuffin` it through those dumb little holes.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was entertainment night at the Senior Center.<\/p>\n

Claude the hypnotist exclaimed, \u201cI\u2019m here to put you into a trance; I intend to hypnotize each and every member of the audience.\u201d<\/p>\n

The excitement was almost electric as Claude withdrew a beautiful antique pocket watch from his coat.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want you each to keep your eye on this antique watch. It\u2019s a very special watch. It\u2019s been in my family for six generations\u201d
\nHe began to swing the watch gently back and forth while quietly chanting, \u201cWatch the watch, watch the watch, watch the watch. . .\u201d<\/p>\n

The crowd became mesmerized as the watch swayed back and forth, light gleaming off its polished surface. Hundreds of pairs eyes followed the swaying watch, until, suddenly, it slipped from the hypnotist\u2019s fingers and fell to the floor, breaking into a hundred pieces.<\/p>\n
