One Friday afternoon, Mrs. Parker gave her class a homework assignment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want each of you to come back on Monday with a story that ends with a moral.\u201d<\/p>\n
Monday morning arrived.<\/p>\n
Little Suzy went first.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy dad owns a chicken farm. Last weekend we were taking eggs to market when the truck hit a huge bump. Every egg rolled out and smashed.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd the moral?\u201d asked Mrs. Parker.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t put all your eggs in one basket.<\/p>\n
\u201cExcellent.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lucy stood up next.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe put twelve eggs in the incubator, but only eight chicks hatched.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd the moral?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t count your chickens before they hatch.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cVery good.\u201d<\/p>\n
Finally, Little Johnny stood up.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy Uncle Ted was a paratrooper.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOne mission, his plane got shot down over enemy territory.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe jumped out carrying a machine gun, a machete\u2026 and a whole case of beer.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOn the way down\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026he drank every single beer.\u201d<\/p>\n
The class stared at him.<\/p>\n
Johnny continued without missing a beat.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen he landed, a hundred enemy soldiers surrounded him.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe used the machine gun until it ran out.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThen he used the machete until it snapped in half.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThen he used his bare hands.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mrs. Parker blinked.<\/p>\n
The classroom was dead silent.<\/p>\n
After a long pause she asked,<\/p>\n
\u201cJohnny\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat could possibly be the moral of that story?\u201d<\/p>\n
Johnny shrugged.<\/p>\n
\u201cNever pick a fight with Uncle Ted\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
