Though Elon took the time to travel to the border expose the truth of the situation there this week, and is in charge of huge companies like Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk still had time to start a spat with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez of New York, who he infuriated by describing her as unintelligent.<\/p>\n
It all began on Musk\u2019s X, where Rep. AOC tried to mock Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy by using the social media joke of \u201d girl math,\u201d which is a joke term used to justify financially irresponsible spending habits.<\/p>\n
Mocking Speaker McCarthy for his party\u2019s shutdown of the government after he needed more than a dozen votes to get elected speaker, she said, \u201cBoy math is needing 15 attempts to count the votes correctly to become Speaker and then shutting down the government 9 months later.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rep. AOC then got torched on X by the Babylon Bee\u2019s Ashley St. Clair, who said, \u201cGirl math is saying immigrants coming legally through Ellis Island is the same as 3 million undocumented migrants pouring through our border and costing NYC $1,000,000,000 to house migrants for free in hotels.\u201c
\nElon, a known fan of the Babylon Bee, saw and drew attention to St. Clair\u2019s tweet by commenting on it. In his comment, he mocked Rep. AOC, saying, \u201cShe\u2019s just not that smart.\u201d
\nSt. Clair disagreed, saying, \u201cI think she\u2019s actually incredibly smart + aware of what she\u2019s doing, which makes her even worse. She knows Ellis Island is not even remotely comparable to the devastation happening to our city and this country due to the open border policies she advocates for.\u201d<\/p>\n
In any case, Rep. AOC saw Elon\u2019s comment on her intelligence and was infuriated by it. Responding in a quote tweet, she said, \u201cI wasn\u2019t born rich and became the youngest woman in American history to be elected to Congress. Then I investigated Cohen, authored the largest FEMA funeral assistance program in history and led creation of a US Climate Corps to create tens of thousands of new jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elon then responded with two comments of his own, saying, \u201cI take it back \u2013 you\u2019re obviously a genius\u201d and \u201cFirst, please allow me to congratulate you on these epic achievements. However, have you considered, rather than \u201cfuneral assistance\u201d, that FEMA focus its funding on preventing funerals in the first place?\u201d<\/p>\n
The video St. Clair posted was of AOC making a historically illiterate point about immigration, saying, \u201cWhen it comes to people coming to New York City today, are nothing, I\u2019m telling you, nothing, compared to the daily amounts of people that we saw coming in through Ellis Island in the first half of this century.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ignored there is that the Ellis Island immigration was legal and regulated, with many would-be immigrants being turned away, America still had plenty of cheap land available for immigrants, and that Congress eventually decided there were too many immigrants and largely shut down immigration in the mid-1920s, a policy which remained in effect until the mid-1960s.<\/p>\n
