Many of us enjoy playing a cheeky prank on our nearest and dearest on April Fool’s Day.<\/p>\n

And celebrities are not exempt from this tradition, with many familiar faces quickly becoming known for their playful pranks each year. Some of the most hilarious pranks seen to date have been at the hands of Hollywood favourites which continue to their fans on their toes.<\/p>\n

Each year, the tricksters up their A-game with their outrageous jokes and extravagant hoaxes. However, some pranks have gone down like a led balloon and even caused a huge backlash for their controversial jokes.<\/p>\n

So as the day gets underway, Daily Star has taken a look back through some of the wildest April Fool’s Day pranks celebrities have pulled over the years.<\/p>\n

Vicky Pattison personal trainer

In 2015, former Geordie Shore babe Vicky Pattison revealed that she was heading over to the US to become Kim Kardashian’s personal trainer. Talking openly about her new business venture, she gushed: “I met Kim and Kanye when they were in London for the Brits last month.<\/p>\n

“Our managers know each other so they introduced us and we got talking about fitness. I was telling her about my DVD and nutritional products and Kim was well excited about it.<\/p>\n

“She asked me there and then if I\u2019d be up for going over to LA and training her myself.” But many were unaware that Vicky had in fact teamed up with The Mirror to fool her friends, family and other media outlets.<\/p>\n

Ellen DeGeneres accident

American chat show host Ellen DeGeneres tricked her viewers and audience members when she pretended she had an accident on her way to work. Supplied with her neck-brace, Ellen spoke openly to her audience about what had happened to her on the way into her former TV studios in 2014.<\/p>\n

However her trick didn’t last very long when she explained that she had a “sudden realisation” that it was April Fool’s Day. Removing her neck accessory with haste, the audience quickly exhaled with relief.<\/p>\n

Channing Tatum sex doll prank

Channing Tatum and Taron Egerton are both known for their cheeky personalities. So it was only expected that the pair would get up to no good when they were cast in the 2017 film Kingsman: The Golden Circle.<\/p>\n

In an interview, the Rocketman star revealed that the pair often played pranks on each other both on and off set. Speaking to People magazine, he confessed: \u201cI put a mannequin in his trailer bed with a wig on it and some empty wine bottles and a pair of high heels on the floor.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he came in one morning and thought there was a person in there was quite freaked out.\u201d Tatum made sure not to go down without a fight, and soon took his revenge by putting even more inappropriate items in Egerton\u2019s room on his last day on set.<\/p>\n

He went on: \u201cThe day he left, he filled my trailer with I think it was about 20 sex dolls and some rather disturbingly large prosthetics. It\u2019s on camera somewhere, someone filming it I think.<\/p>\n

Sam Smith sexuality

Award-winning singer Sam Smith decided to play a prank on their fans back in 2015. To mark the cheeky tradition, the hitmaker took to X – formerly known as Twitter – to candidly open up about their sexuality.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old simply wrote: “Guys I have some news… I’m straight.” But it didn’t take long before people called them out on their joke.<\/p>\n

After an hour, the singer decided to put their fans out of their misery and followed up the tweet, writing, “April fools,” along with a cry-laughing emoji.<\/p>\n

Ant and Dec rebrand

Geordie duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly left their followers concerned when they announced a big rebrand in April 2021. Taking to their official X account, the pair informed fans that they were set to make a big change.<\/p>\n

The hilarious double act – who have become known for their cheeky pranks throughout their hosting career – announced: “Some big news for you guys…<\/p>\n

“After 30 long years together we\u2019ve decided a change is needed, and so without further ado, we can announce we\u2019ll now be officially known as Dec & Ant. It\u2019s only fair on the little guy x #DecAndAnt.”<\/p>\n

Although most were not fazed by the pair’s gag, others were left confused. One social media user responded: “When I tell you my heart rate dropped whilst reading the first half of that caption. Then remembered the date, maybe next time try fainting again.”<\/p>\n

Tom Hardy’s 007 tease

Actor Tom Hardy was tipped to be the next actor to play James Bond on several occasions. So when April Fool’s Day rolled around in 2018, the star couldn’t help but tease fans that he had been given the legendary part.<\/p>\n

News soon hit that the actor may have landed the part after his pal leaked the joke to the press. Hours later, Tom appeared to confirm that he would be taking over the role in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n

He wrote: “Dammit I was in my tux and on the runway Gtg no drama GB RTB headed back to NOLA stood down 19.” After seeing the message online, fans headed over to social media to share the news.<\/p>\n

One person wrote: “Just heard news that Daniel Craig’s quit as James bond and Tom hardy is new bond. Don’t know whether it’s true or just April fools joke not sure if I should believe this news need confirmation #confused.”<\/p>\n

Kendall Jenner\u2019s fake pregnancy

The Kardashian\/ Jenner family are known for their incredible business prowess and beautiful offspring. But unlike her sisters, Kendall Jenner has insisted for years that she is not ready to have children.<\/p>\n

So it came as quite a surprise when the supermodel pranked her mother with a fake pregnancy during a game of Truth or Dare back in 2021. She was tasked to call her family members and try and successfully convince them that she is with child.<\/p>\n

Her first victim was her mum Kris, and it\u2019s fair to say she fell for the prank hook, line and sinker. Kendall began: \u201cHi Mom. So I have a scenario… I haven\u2019t gotten my period in a little while and I was supposed to get it like last week.

\u201cSo I kinda got nervous and randomly took a test and it came back positive. So I took another one and that also came back positive. I\u2019m literally like about to cry.\u201d<\/p>\n

The momager was overwhelmed with excitement as she gushed: \u201cThat\u2019s so weird you say that because I dreamed about this last night. I\u2019ll put my clothes on and get over there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before Kris made it out the door, Kendall and Kourtney burst into laughter before letting her in on the joke. Thankfully, Kris laughed off the prank however, her other siblings didn\u2019t seem too pleased.<\/p>\n
