Incredible moment brave 13-year-old saves bus full of students after driver passes out

His parents believe they know why his reaction was so quick.

Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, they come in the form of a 13-year-old whose quick thinking saved the lives of students on a school bus after the driver lost consciousness.

The day started as any other for teenager Dillon Reeves from Michigan, but it soon turned into an ordeal.

Namely, while at the school bus, Dillon noticed the vehicle “swerving” and got worried. Trying to make sure everything was fine, he checked on the driver and realized her head had dropped and her eyes were closed. What’s most, her foot wasn’t on the pedals and she wasn’t holding the steering wheel.

“It just didn’t seem right,” Dillon said.

Becoming aware of the danger and the possibility of the bus going over a curb, he took matters into his own hands. Bravely, he grabbed the steering wheel and prevented it from hitting into a car by turning it around.

Dillon managed to press the breaks of school bus No. 46, bringing it to a stop. Inside the bus, there were 60 students whom he brought to safety.

Once the bus was not moving, he instructed his friends to call 911.

Luckily, no one was injured, and the footage of the bus showed the students screaming in panic and fearing for their safety and their lives.
Paramedics took the bus driver to the hospital, and she later went home. They reported she was doing well

After the incident, the driver reached out to Dillon’s stepmother, Ireta Reeves, thanking Dillon for his bravery.

“I’m so thankful Dillon was on the bus that day,” she began.

“His swift actions saved lives and property and he deserves all the attention for his bravery. He was asking a few months back about being a bus driver, how old did you have to be and if it was hard,” the message continued.

“He thought he might want to be a bus driver one day. It’s a great job. I love it. But I hope Dillon can see his potential to be so much more.”

Dillon’s dad said he was extremely proud of his son.

“This is overwhelming for all of us […] He is very attentive to his surroundings.”

The entire community dubbed him a real life hero, but Dillon says he didn’t think he did much, all he did was stop the school bus.

What a humble young man.
