Boy’s Final Wish Before Surgery

A tense silence filled the small hospital ward. The five-year-old boy lay on a snow-white sheet, his eyes wide and tired. Doctors told his parents that the upcoming operation was his last chance.

As nurses prepared him for anesthesia, the boy whispered softly:

“Can… Archie come to me?”
Startled, one nurse asked, “Who is Archie, darling?”

“My dog. I missed him very much. Please…” the boy’s lips trembled.
The nurse hesitated.

“Animals aren’t allowed in the hospital. You’re very weak, understand?”
Tears glistened in the boy’s eyes.

“But I… I may never see him again.”
The nurse’s heart broke. She exchanged glances with her colleagues and, unexpectedly, agreed:

“Okay. Just for a minute.”
Archie Arrives

An hour later, Archie’s owners brought him in. The moment the dog saw his owner, he leapt onto the bed and pressed against the boy. For the first time in weeks, the boy smiled and hugged his dog tightly.

Doctors and nurses watched with tears in their eyes. The bond between boy and dog shone brighter than fear and pain.

Unexpected Danger

Suddenly, Archie grew tense. His fur bristled. He jumped off the bed and rushed toward the corner of the ward, barking furiously at the surgeon.

“Get rid of this creature!” the surgeon screamed, recoiling in shock.
Staff hurried to calm Archie, but then one doctor noticed a sharp, unusual smell.

“Oh my God…” whispered the anesthesiologist. “Are you drunk?!”
A deathly silence fell over the room. Parents turned pale, nurses exchanged horrified glances. Archie continued to growl, standing guard over his little owner.

Truth Revealed

Minutes later, the truth emerged: the surgeon had arrived at work drunk. He was immediately suspended and stripped of his license. The operation was rescheduled with a different doctor.
