The Ink Has Dried

A husband and wife came up with a secret code word so their 5-year-old daughter wouldn’t realize when they wanted some intimate adult time. They cleverly decided to call it “using the typewriter.”

One evening, the husband felt romantic and told his daughter, “Sweetie, go tell Mommy that Daddy really needs to type a letter.”

The little girl ran to her mother with the message. The mom smiled and replied, “Go tell your daddy he can’t type right now… there’s a red ribbon in the typewriter.”

A few days later, the mom was finally ready. She called her daughter over and said, “Go tell Daddy he can come type that letter now.”

The little girl ran to her dad, delivered the news, and quickly trotted back to her mother with his response:

“Daddy said never mind… he already wrote the letter by hand.”
