Hannah Barron is known for plunging head first into murky lakes and emerging with a giant monster hanging off her arm, so a troll’s comment about her voice was like water off a duck’s back
A viral social media star famous for wrestling lake monsters with her bare hands has hit back at an internet troll who said her accent “should be illegal.”
Hannah Barron, who is also known as ‘Catfish Girl’ for her adventurous antics said she was surprised to find herself trending on X (formerly Twitter).
The 27-year-old from South Alabama recently rejoined the platform after huge success on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.
Marking her return with a video on X, she wrote: “For those of y’all who don’t know why I’m sometimes referred to as “the Catfish Girl,” it’s because I like to wrestle catfish AKA Catfish Noodling. Here’s a little example:
“Thank you all for the support! Preciate y’all.”
The video shows Hannah fearlessly emerging from the depths with both arms inside the mouth of a huge catfish.
Pulling free from its jaws, she adds: “He’s swallowed me deep.”
But the clip seemed to cause a stir with one troll saying Hannah’s accent “should be illegal.”
In a video called “I’m trending on Twitter! Hannah took to YouTube to hit back saying: “Apparently I’m trending on Twitter right now because some girl…said that my accent should be illegal, women shouldn’t do manual labour…American women are basically men and she just said that I was not feminine.
“And I would tell y’all this girl’s name but I can’t remember it because I don’t have a clue who she is, so that should tell you how relevant this person is.
“But I just think it’s hilarious because I grew up as the weird kid in high school who hunted and fished too much, because back then it wasn’t cool for women to hunt or fish or the whole country lifestyle.
“I’m so proud of all the women in the outdoors now for making that more cool or popular, so proud of us, think we’re doing great.”

She added: “I just think that you should embrace your own individuality. You should be yourself and don’t worry about what anybody else says because these folks talking about me and think they’re gonna offend me, that ship sailed a long time ago.
“I’ve been getting picked on my whole life. I grew up around men…So don’t be scared to build your own box and don’t try to fit in anybody else’s.
“Be your own person and you’ll be happier in the long run because of that.”
Hannah, who lists her hobbies as hunting, fishing, noodling and bow-fishing has thousands of followers on social media with her latest YouTube video racking up 170,000 views and almost 3,000 comments in one day.
Her channels feature daring videos of herself being bitten by a snake, snaring a deer, poaching a turkey, hogs, coyote and a crocodile.
Confused about the backlash, one X user wrote: “Hannah Barron’s been posting cat fishing videos on YouTube forever. I’m surprised it took so long for Twitter to discover her.
“Twitter lost its mind over a video of good looking Louisiana girls dancing at Mardi Gras a few weeks ago. They’re just learning about the south now.”
One person said: “I raised both of my girls hunting, fishing, and going to job sites. I am a master plumber retired and my girls are beautiful women just like you are. I am glad your response to the young women’s remarks were tasteful and without any malicious content. You are a great product of your raising.”
