As pop icon Mariah Carey turns another year older, Daily Star has taken a look back at some of racy confessions from having phone sex to bonking to her own songs

Mariah Carey is known for her daring outfits but not many will know she’s been mentioned in some racy confessions over the years.

The singing sensation, who turned 55 on March 27, is best known for 1994 song All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Over the years, she’s led a colourful love life and has been married twice. Just last year, Mariah confirmed that she’d split with her partner Bryan Tanaka after seven years.

While she had tied the knot twice, her relationship with Bryan was never legalised. Bryan confirmed the news last year confirming the split was mutual. He wrote: “Our decision to embark on different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with profound respect and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the invaluable time we’ve shared.”

As Mariah now celebrates her birthday, Daily Star has looked back at her cheeky confessions she’s made about some of her exes…

First time

Mariah lost her virginity to her first husband Tommy Mottola, who she married when she was 24.

They were married from 1993 until 1998 after he discovered her in the late 1980s when he was then head of Columbia Records.

Mottola was 20 years her senior when they tied the knot.

Reportedly inspired by Princess Diana and Prince Charles’s wedding, Mariah said “I do” in front of the likes of Barbra Streisand and Ozzy Osbourne.

‘Eighth-grade event’

She opens up about her sex life in her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, which was released in 2020.

US Baseball Derek Jeter was the second person Mariah slept with, when she was 27 years old.

She writes in her book that the first time they had sex at his house in Tampa, his sister Sharlee was also there.

Mariah described the rendezvous as “basically an eighth-grade event”.

Phone sex

Mariah’s now ex-husband Nick Cannon previously revealed they kept their romance alive via phone sex.

The couple married in 2008 and split in 2014, but remain on good terms and focus on co-parenting their children.

When asked about how he managed being apart from his wife, actor-rapper Nick replied at the time: “Lots of phone sex, and when I get home, we have a big party.”

Bonking to own songs

Nick previously said that he and Mariah would have sex to her own songs and he’d masturbate to her hit Hero if she wasn’t there.

Speaking to Amber Rose on her show, he said: “I’ve answered this question while I was married – mistake! She didn’t like the fact that I told the world that we have sex to her music, but it was true!

“Can you imagine having sex with Mariah Carey while Mariah Carey is playing in the back? Sorry, Mariah. I said I wasn’t going to say that again.”

After he told Amber that the song was Hero, the chat show host exclaimed: “That was some serious love-making, if you’re making love to Hero.”

No nookie

The Emotions singer previously revealed that she never had sex with her former fiancé James Packer.

While promoting her memoir, she told The Guardian in 2020: “(James and I) didn’t have a physical relationship, to be honest with you.

“If it was a relationship that mattered, it’s in the book. If not, it didn’t occur.”

Mariah got engaged to Packer in January 2016 after dating for less than a year and the billionaire businessman called off their engagement in nine months later.

Body count

Mariah previously admitted how many people she’d had sex with in an interview with Cosmopolitan back in 2019.

She said at the time: “I haven’t had that many, but there has been a variety pack.
“I’ve only been with five people in my life, so I’m kind of a prude, honestly, compared to most others in the field.”

Mariah is currently dating American choreographer Bryan Tanaka and they have been an item since 2017.
