A lady walked into her local butcher shop one afternoon to pick up a few things for dinner.
She moved slowly along the counter, inspecting the steaks, sausages, chops, and everything else on display.
Then she suddenly stopped.
Sitting behind the glass was something she definitely did not recognize.
She leaned closer.
Then leaned back.
Then leaned closer again.
Finally, she pointed at it and asked,
“What in the world is that?”
The butcher looked over casually.
“Beef tongue,” replies the butcher!
The woman’s eyes widened.
She gave a little involuntary shudder and took a small step backward.
“Ewww! Gross!”
The butcher raised an eyebrow.
She continued, clearly horrified by the idea.
“No way would I put anything in my mouth that came out of an animal’s mouth!”
The butcher nodded slowly and professionally, as though he completely understood her concern.
“Of course, madam.”
The woman seemed pleased that he agreed with her.
She turned back toward her shopping cart, ready to continue with the rest of her groceries.
The butcher glanced down.
He noticed bread.
Some vegetables.
A carton of milk.
Then his eyes stopped on one particular item.
He looked back at the woman.
The butcher nodded sympathetically while peeking into the woman’s shopping cart,
“I see you’re buying a dozen eggs!”
